July 28, 2020 Update
The Library is now accepting book donations.
- Donations are currently only being accepted at the Library Services Center (LSC) - 2450 N. Meridian Street.
- Donations are not accepted at branches at this time.
- Donations are accepted at the LSC Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.
- We request donations be packed in boxes. No bags, please. This minimizes direct contact with donated material by staff and optimizes storage capacity for 72 hour quarantine.
- No more than 10 boxes per donation.
- For larger donations or questions patrons can call Mike Ehret 317-275-4044
July 8, 2020 Update
Library Foundation staff continue to work remotely and remain available to assist you. Staff visit the physical offices at least weekly to process mail. Due to the limited time in the office, if you call you will most likely reach a voicemail. If you leave a voicemail, a staff member will call you back. You can also contact us via email at foundation@indyplfoundation.org.
We are currently not accepting book donations, but are working on the logistics of how to do that safely. Stay tuned!

March 13, 2020 Announcement
With consideration of decisions by state and local officials, school systems, and public health departments, The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees and leadership team have made the decision to close all locations and bookmobile services to the public as of Saturday, March 14 at 5:00pm. This includes the Library Foundation offices. We will remain closed until local and state health officials deem it safe to reopen public gathering places.
We are closing to protect the health of our staff, our city, and our library patrons and you, our donors, for which we care deeply. Closing sooner will offer greater benefit to the social distancing effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Marion County.
During the closure, Foundation staff will be working remotely, but please keep in mind the following details:
- Processing any donations made by check and sending your receipt letter and Friends of the Library cards (if requested) may be delayed as Foundation staff will have limited postal mail. Thank you for your patience.
- If you would like to provide immediate support, please use the online giving form, www.indyplfoundation.org/give.
- No book donations will be accepted with the Library is closed. This includes drop-off donations and donation pick-ups. We will resume accepting donations when the Library and Library Foundation reopens.
- For information about Library branch closures, material due dates, holds and available electronic resources, please visit www.indypl.org.
If you need reach a Foundation staff member, please email foundation@indyplfoundation.org or call 317-275-4700 and leave a message. These accounts will be monitored daily and your messages forwarded to the appropriate staff.
We are grateful for the support that you have shown to the Foundation. We know that you will be here to support the Library system you love when it reopens and resumes programs for children, teens and adults.
